Hiring Wisdom: Is Your Screening Process Delivering the Best Potential Employees?

Here’s an interesting excerpt from an online forum:

Do you use automated, electronic applicant screening programs? If you do, you are REQUIRING your candidates to write their documents to pass that test in order to be screened in.

Do you have someone else in a different department write your ads and/or conduct the first review of applications, resumes, and/or candidates? Then you are REQUIRING your applicants to get past these screens.

These first step screening protocols are not capable of assessing a candidate’s true potential to be successful in the job at hand, but the need to get past those protocols WILL require your candidates to write or say things that might misrepresent them when what they really want is nothing more than a chance to get in front of you and demonstrate their qualifications and abilities.
