I know there are a lot of people in San Diego attending the 2010 SHRM Annual Conference , but not everyone can make it. When I was an HR generalist, I didn’t get to go to too many shows like SHRM. I stuck around local events and maybe caught regional ones. Back then, you were able to hear about the cool things that happened at the conference from a pretty limited amount of sources. HR Magazine would typically give you a few pieces. SHRM’s website would be another.
Now? There’s information everywhere. So if you’re at home and pining for some HR insight and Southern California sunshine (by the way, it was a lot nicer in Portland than San Diego today), here are a few resources besides the usual suspects:
- TLNT and ERE will both be there covering the event. TLNT’s VP of Editorial John Hollon is on the ground in San Diego, and Todd Raphael of ERE is there and filing reports for ERE.net, so you’ll see posts from both of them this week. You can also check on what John is saying by checking on his Twitter account to get his instant take on what’s going on at the conference.
- Speaking of Twitter, you can follow the official conference hashtag (#SHRM10) by clicking here. You can keep that link bookmarked throughout the week to check in on the action or if you have an RSS feed reader, you can use this link to keep up on all of the action.
- Want to see what the bloggers are saying? Using Google’s blogsearch, you can see all of the posts that are referencing SHRM by clicking here. Already seeing some great things coming in from some of the folks there in San Diego. And if you want to get e-mail alerts when someone posts, you can set it up on the left hand side of the page (or you can just go directly there)
- You like the official word? SHRM has setup a blog for their annual conference and has enrolled the support of several “blog squad” members to cover the show from a practitioners point of view.
If you have any other resources you are using to watch the conference from afar, share them in the comments!
